  • The fact that it's December 23rd, 2020 and John Oliver's description of _this_ as disaster seems quaint to me shows what a garbage year this is. Who could have predicted at the time he made this that Britain would be brinking again on leaving with no plan, no deal, no stockpiles to protect them from the damage of an unprepared lorry system, no decent leadership, a pandemic that's worsening in their country by the day, and their last gasp of international trade and travel under the current rules crippled only days before the Brexit owing to Britain having been cut off from the rest of the world _due to that pandemic,_ blocking the transport of food and medicines _in a country with no stockpiles, also due to the pandemic._ It's a terrible, perfect storm. You couldn't write it.

      StormbringerStormbringer12 日 前
    • @Stormbringer yeah, he pretty much folded on everything. Not a shock. He's been trying to spin doctor it into a victory but that can only last so long until people feel the effects... I have a feeling he'll try and blame the effects of the deal on anything else but the deal moving forward.

      StormbringerStormbringer12 日 前
    • @Stormbringer Yep. The day after this comment. Waaaaaay too late to actually critically analyze this deal before making it law. And wouldn't you know it... It's basically everything the EU asked for a year ago. The EU won the brinkmanship game, unsurprisingly.

  • Ok, so if the UK got out under Theresa May's terms, economy would have shrunk 3% over 10 years, under no deal 9% over 10 years and that would have ripple effects throughout the world. How is this, now? In December 2020 the economy is expected to have shrunk 11% (in 2020 alone!). What now? Where are the ripples?

    Alin MaziluAlin Maziluヶ月 前
    • Up to the 31 December 2020, nothing is in place, people and goods are still freely travelling from the EU to the UK, so of course, there is no measurable impact (and that's not fully true, the pound is at 1.11€ and the house market dropped quite a lot for what I know)... • If JPworlds actually starts putting ads on non-monetized videos by creators who never asked for them, that just goes to show how greedy this corporation can be. This thought is disgusting. JPworlds is essentially making free money off small channels and not paying them a single penny. Yes, these are small channels, but since there's so many of them, JPworlds will still make a huge profit off of this new policy. I don't care if JPworlds hates us now, it must be said by someone. I urge to our subscribers that we spread the message to all creators, and urge JPworlds to immediately repeal this new policy. - Father

  • I would have liked the Brexit discussion to focus a bit more on the corruption of the EU, it's an extremely corrupt institution that is not democratically chosen and is mostly worried about serving the lobbyist that pay EU parliament ridiculous bribes. Something that isn't a hoax, but is well documented. And this arrogance is why a lot of voters are done with such a ineffective institution.

The problem is, in the UK, they put a vote to the people on a topic they knew very little about so they voted based off of emotion and campaign slogans. The people elect politicians because they understand politics, it was never a decision the people alone should have been asked to make, and now we can all see that no country has ever shot itself in the foot more than the UK. Economically and politically.
