Automation often seems like a scary new problem, but it’s neither entirely scary nor entirely new.

  • Automation will remove 80 percent of the job in whole world . Even that if news reporters and comedians . Reason : we all now a days look for random videos and fails and cat compilations more over the seeing a comedian . Also the news we get is generally via bunch of tweets hence really we dont need the news outlets . Influencers on instagrams are being replaced by cgi and bots . Everything is being automated

  • I feel like we should rethink the way our society and commerce in general operates as more and more bland, exhausting, and even inhumane jobs become doable by robots. If someone's job can be done by a metal claw.. my god why were we forcing someone to live like that? Why are we forced to lament a technological contribution that is literally a robot slave that gives us free time? I suspect it really just comes down to greedy businesses wanting no hands to be idle. Create pressure onto people to work 'somewhere' at threat of starvation and homelessness, meanwhile gaining more and more because of bots who don't need breaks or pay.

  • In an apocalyptic end-of-the-world scenario there will be two kinds of people. There will be those seeking to rebuild society and those who will choose to wander the Earth. Choose wisely, 'pack boys.' Lol. Where the wild things are? As for me I've decided to spend it dedicated to studying the anatomy of the Pringles character if it comes to that. Idiot 1 or idiot 2. No thanks. There's enough Pringles to keep at home. Pringles is the true meaning of Nazi Germany. Crisp. Hmmmm. Gross. PROMET, TRUTH.

  • One major issue with automation is it gives the companies who run them more money and less people to pay... ultimately making the higher ups the only people in the companies still making products still making money... while the rest of us will eventually wither away into nothing. Simply because there won't be a universal benefit package to ensure every person has the necessities. The few will own and run everything and the many will simply be left to die on the roadside. Congratulations money you're the true cancer of this society...

  • US bank teller employment rose "modestly" from 1980 to 2010? Almost a hundred million people were added to the US population in that time. What is "modest" in real numbers? 3%? 5%? The US population increased about 30%. So no, US bank teller jobs DECLINED in that time. I'd also like to remind people that you only need one programmer (or set of programmers) to write a program, and then it can be executed millions of times in millions of when you cut a million jobs with a robot, you don't need a million programmers to replace the million workers that used to do that job. Sure, you'll need some people setting up the automated factory to build those robots..but you'll need dozens, not millions. The labor market contracts, and employers get to be pickier and pickier. The only thing a person can do that a machine can't is this: be food. We're all going to be soylent green!

  • It should be noted that the wealth generated by automation will benefit the average wealthy person more than most other people and replace more low income jobs than higher income ones... Which wouldn't be such a problem if there was some way to distribute wealth... But, of course the only way such a thing could exist would be if there were some political system where governments follow the will of the average citizen...
